The Assembly of KIDSF Contributors appreciated the progress of the projects financed by the Fund

On 28th of June 2016, the Assembly of the Contributors of the Kozloduy International Decommissioning Support Fund held its summer session in London, UK.
The forum was attended by representatives of the contributing countries, European Commission and European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) as an administrator of the Fund. The Bulgarian delegation included Mr. Nikolay Nikolov – Deputy Minister of Energy, Mr. Dilyan Petrov – Executive Director of State Enterprise Radioactive Waste (SERAW) and experts from the Ministry of Energy and SERAW.
During the assembly, the Bulgarian delegation presented a report on the progress of the Decommissioning Programme for the first six months of this year by focusing on the projects of higher priority for this period – the dismantling activities, as well as the construction of two facilities with focus on the safe decommissioning of the shutdown units – the Plasma Melting Facility and Workshop for Size Reduction and Decontamination of the equipment dismantled.
After assessing the progress in the decommissioning activities, the Assembly approved all investment proposals presented by SERAW for funding of projects that will support the next phases of the decommissioning programme.
The Assembly of Donors was preceded by a Monitoring Committee formed by representatives of the European Commission and EBRD who inspected in situ the actual projects’ progress on the Kozloduy Site.
