Twenty-six tenth-graders enrolled in “Applied Programmer” specialty at Hristo Botev Secondary School, Kozloduy, and one student at the National Vocational High School for Computer Technologies and Systems, Pravets, enrolled in “System Programming” specialty, conducted their internship at the SERAW Information Centre for Decommissioning. Within the period from 1 to 12 July 2024, under the tutelage of Teodor Pironkov, an operator of electronic and audio-visual equipment, with knowledge and experience in the field of programming, the students got acquainted theoretically and hands-on experience with different types of software products and mastered the skill to work with them. Particularly interesting for the future specialists is the process of designing and making a 3D model of a microclimate measuring sensor – temperature, pressure and humidity as well as practical activities with a microcontroller.
“The internship went smoothly, pleasantly and interestingly and changed my initial attitudes towards the production practice. To be honest, I expected it to be boring. In fact, I learned a lot of new things – how to solder boards and sensors, how to properly search and find necessary information, and I coped surprisingly well with the assigned tasks,” shared Beatris Duhlanska after the internship. The opinion of her classmate, Kaloyan Penyashki, was also explicit: “I learned a lot of new and interesting things and I am sure that they will be very useful for my future development in the field of computer technologies.” “I chose this specialty out of no particular interest, I chose it for the prospects and honestly I expected to get in to it over time. Well, let’s say I finally did – after learning some really interesting things during the internship. And I even dare to say that I’m doing well!”, Lyudmila Ivanova also shared sincerely.
At the end of their practical training, each of the students prepared a presentation by which they defended their project in front of the mentor, teachers of information technology and the school principal of Hristo Botev Secondary School, Georgi Balabanov.
