On 23 and 24 February 2018, Kozloduy will host for a tenth consecutive year the Honey Festival – a joint initiative of the State Enterprise Radioactive Waste and beekeepers’ associations from the region.
During the two days, the Festival will traditionally hold an exhibition of polyfloral honey and bee products, presentation of bee-based medicinal products; artisans will be present with collections of handmade souvenirs; for a second time the Event will be visited by Bilkova Gradina (Herbal Garden), Veliko Tarnovo, with the participation of the iridologist Emil Elmazov.
The tenth Honey Festival includes a diverse accompanying programme which will be held on 23th February from 12:30 to 16:00 hrs in the Hristo Botev National Community Center Memorial Temple. It includes a culinary exhibition of sweets with honey, provided by the Turlashka mahala Neighbourhood Pensioner Club (foyer) and a fashion-show of costumes with Bulgarian ethno elements of Starata Rakla (Old Chest) Association. A special focus of the programme will be a meeting of the beekeepers with experts from Agriculture State Fund for discussion of topical subsidy issues for the beekeeping section in 2018. All interested in the secrets of the beekeeping craft will be able to hear first-person stories of honey producers under the theme: “What is being a beekeeper – joys and challenges.”
