On 23 and 24 February, 2024, the Honey Festival will be held in the town of Kozloduy. This is the 15th edition of the event, which is an initiative of State Enterprise Radioactive Waste (SERAW), supported by the beekeeping societies from the region of the Danube town.
The festival will traditionally gather together producers of honey and bee products – long-standing participants in the annual event, as well as young beekeepers, proving that they are worthy to be a part of this noble occupation. They will be joined by representatives of various crafts and practitioners interpreting the Bulgarian tradition with a variety of art techniques.
The Honey Festival programme will contain several lectures on Varroatosis in bee families – prevention and treatment and Honey bees – an indicator of the presence of radioactivity with guest lecturer Assistant Professor, PhD, Koycho Koev, Director of the Risk Assessment Centre on Food Chain and lecturer at Thrace University – Stara Zagora. Mladen Nikolov, who has an experience with a bee house in the village of Yarlovitsa, will share his knowledge about the little-known in Bulgaria apitherapy using beehive air. With attention to the most special guests at the festival – the children, a creative studio will be organized under the guidance of Neda Licheva – an artist and ceramist.
The 2024 Honey Festival will take place in the SERAW Information Centre at 2A Vasil Vodenicharski St.
