The NDF Project was presented at an International Expert Forum

The main output of the International Low Level Waste Disposal Network (DISPONET) meeting will be an IAEA technical document on the subject of construction of such facilities which will be updated based on the information shared between experts from various countries.
The forum took place between 4th and 8th December 2017 in Kozloduy and was hosted by State Enterprise Radioactive Waste (SERAW).
During the expert meeting, the experts presented the national progress on the disposal of low-level RAW in each of the participating countries: Australia, Belarus, Brazil, China, Croatia, the Czech Republic, Germany, Iran, South Korea, Latvia, Lithuania, Pakistan, Romania, Slovenia, South Africa and the United Kingdom.
Bulgaria presented the progress of the project for construction of National Disposal Facility for Low- and Intermediate Level RAW (NDF) in several presentations. The site selection procedures were described in detail; the safety concept and the Technical Design of the repository were presented. All DISPONET experts expressed congratulations on the progress of the Bulgarian project which is already at a construction phase and highly appreciated the shared experience.
Within the meeting’s programme, the participants visited the Specialised Division Decommissioning of Units 1-4, the newly built Size Reduction and Decontamination Workshop and the Radiana site, where the NDF is being constructed.
