Tradition in modern times

08.03.2021

State Enterprise Radioactive Waste (SERAW) celebrated in an original way the International Women’s Day, 8th March. In a joint initiative of the State Enterprise and the “N. Y. Vaptsarov – 1927” Community Centre, Harlets village, an exhibition bazaar of handmade jewelry was organized.
In the first two months of 2021, when there was no possibility to perform the traditional activities of the Community Centre due to the anti-epidemic measures, the small team of the institution devoted a lot of work and talent into the preparation of a jewelry collection shining with embroidery elements typical of the Northwest.
In the exhibition “Tradition in modern times”, which ended on 8th March, the embroidered jewelry received well-deserved recognition from the ladies of SERAW, as well as from the men who chose to make a unique gift. “They filled my heart with beauty! What a great initiative”, emotionally commented Penka Ruseva, an employee in Specialized Division Decommissioning of Units 1-4. Close to this perception of the event were the impressions of all visitors.
“We thank SERAW for helping us in this initiative and for the good organization”, said Tanya Mladenova, Chairwoman of the Community Centre. She admitted that the team was very excited and somewhat skeptical, as this is their first participation in such an event with that type of collection. Mrs. Mladenova reminded the protective power of the ancient symbols of embroidery and how it naturally emphasizes the beauty of the Bulgarian woman.
During the three days of the exhibition, 522 BGN were raised. They will be used for purchasing new books at the children’s section of the library in the “N. Y. Vaptsarov – 1927” Community Centre and components for the Community Centre’s sound system.
