Following the tradition and mission of conveying to adolescents the idea of caring for the river, the State Enterprise “Radioactive Waste” celebrated the International Danube Day for the eleventh consecutive year. Nearly 70 employees from the Specialized Divisions of the enterprise and their children and grandchildren embarked on a one-hour voyage on the steamship-museum “Radetzky”. At the very beginning of the journey and with enviable enthusiasm, the children began to paint, and their masterpieces decorated the deck of the ship with a colorful exhibition. The children also had the opportunity to take part in the traditional quiz, in which they demonstrated their knowledge about the Danube River, the countries along the river, the tributaries and other interesting and curious facts.
The Danube Day’ is annually celebrated on 29th June – the date on which the international Danube River Protection Convention was signed by eleven countries and the European Community. The mission of the initiative is to draw attention to the protection of the river and its tributaries.
