HONEY FESTIVAL 2023 gathers beekeepers, craftsmen and guests for the fourteenth time

08.02.2023

The traditional initiative of the State Enterprise Radioactive Waste, which is joined by the beekeepers’ associations from the Kozloduy region, HONEY FESTIVAL 2023 will gather for the fourteenth time producers of honey and bee products from the region and local centers with beekeeping traditions, representatives of Bulgarian crafts and applied arts and guests.
The event proves that the presence of radioactive waste management facilities on the territory of the Kozloduy Municipality does not adversely affect the environment and does not hinder the production and marketing of honey from the region. Moreover, bees are a natural indicator of clean nature and are more sensitive to increased levels of radiation.
This year’s edition of the Festival will be held in the usual two-day format – on February 17th and 18th, at the Information Center for Decommissioning, and the programme includes exhibitions of polyfloral honey, bee products, medicinal and cosmetic products based on bee products  – a certified original production, as well as tasting of different types of honey.
The accompanying programme of the event focuses on current topics about beekeeping through lectures hosted by a guest lecturer from the University of Forestry, Sofia – Chief Assist. Prof. PhD Cvetelina Nikolova, on issues related with the “empty beehive” syndrome and the beehive sensor system. A manufacturer will present new high tech beekeeping equipment.
The youngest visitors will have the opportunity to become part of the activities in children’s creative workshops.

HONEY FESTIVAL 2023 awaits its guests on Friday, February 17th, from 11:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Information Center for Decommissioning. The second day of the event will continue on Saturday, February 18th, from 9:00 a.m. to 16:00 p.m. For more information contact us on 02 9035 011, or visit us in person at 2A Vasil Vodenicharski Str., Kozloduy.
