On invitation of the Ambassador of France in Bulgaria – Hon. Xavier Lapeyre de Cabanes and the director of an agency “UBIFRANCE” for Bulgaria – Mr. Marc Debels, State Enterprise “Radioactive Waste” took part in the three-day French-Bulgarian Economic Forum in the field of the nuclear industry, which took place between 7 – 9 April 2014.
On the first day of the event in Sofia, the French delegation was familiarised with the Bulgarian institutions and organisations having relation to the nuclear industry in the country – the Ministry of Economy and Energy, the Bulgarian Energy Holding, BULATOM. The deputy executive director of SERAW – Mr. Boris Pekov introduced to the forum participants the main aspects in the activities of the enterprise as a national operator for radioactive waste management and decommissioning of nuclear power capacities.
The second day of the event was dedicated to the visit at the site of Kozloduy NPP. The delegation led by Hon. Xavier Lapeyre de Cabanes included representatives of 16 French companies from the nuclear industry field. Two major groups of promising projects were brought to their attention: the modernisation of the working 1000 MW Units – presented by Kozloduy NPP and the decommissioning of the shutdown Units 1-4 – presented by SERAW.
Within the frame of the visit, the delegation visited the Turbine hall of the 440 MW Units, where the dismantling process of the conventional equipment is ongoing.
