The result from the activities of Specialised Division Units 1-4 Decommissioning during 2014 concludes in 5 842 t of dismantled equipment, by which the planned programme for dismantling in the shut down units’ Turbine Hall of the nuclear power plant was completed. Some operations considered as more complex associated with the bulk machinery that have been done: dismantling of Low- and High Pressure Feedwater Heaters of the Turbine Generators (TG) 1 and 2; deaerators of TG 1, 2 and 3, generators of TG 2, 3 and 4; turbine foundation at elevation “zero” of TG 1; the reinforced concrete structure of the Exciting Circuit Breaker of TG 3. All activities were performed with approval from Bulgarian Nuclear Regulatory Agency (BNRA). After implementing a detailed radiological survey, also by en external accreditation organisartion, 4 805 tons of the equipment dismantled were released from regulatory control with approval from BNRA.
In relation to the new licenses for the decommissioning of Units 1 and 2, the programme for the transfer of irradiated dummy assemblies from Units 1 and 3 to Spent Fuel Pool – 3. Some preparations for the operation were made in the end of 2014: maintenance works on the cranes in Reactor Building and on the refueling system. It is expected in the first months of 2015, together with Kozloduy NPP and with a sanction from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in accordance with the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons to start with the transfer of the assemblies.
