Large children’s festival on 6th of April, 2017 marked the finals of the contest for children’s art and applied works – Our green future. State Enterprise “Radioactive Waste” (SERAW) organise the event for the youngest citizens of the municipality of Kozloduy for ten consecutive years. The initiative is held always on the eve of Easter and in their works children of the age between 5 and 10 had to associate the regeneration of nature, symbolised through the spring holidays, with the SERAW’s care and activities for environmental protection and human health.
On the occasion of the competition’s anniversary in 2017, a series of workshops were carried out in all schools and kindergartens in the municipality. During these workshops the artworks for the competition were made or completed. Representatives of SERAW and artists were guests at the art classes where they demonstrated for the small artists some interesting and easy to learn techniques. 26 workshops with 558 children took place during the event. They created 74 individual and 52 collective works, which were arranged in a large colorful exhibition. Experiencing great difficulty to appoint the best authors, the jury gave away a total of 45 awards, including many different and special prizes. The first place among the smallest was shared between Kindergarten “1st of June” (Parvi Yuni) from the village of Bhutan, and Kindergarten “Joy” (Radost) from the village of Glozhene. First prizes were given also to Aleksandar Vasilev from Kozloduy (second class) and Ilian Spasov from Glojene (third class).
The hall of the celebration was filled with many grown “veterans” of the contest, representatives of various institutions, friends and supporters of the initiative. For these ten years the Our Green Future has attracted the participation of 3759 children who had submitted 668 individual and 417 collective projects.
