Support for the public projects of the municipalities hosting RAW facilities

A project financed by the Radioactive waste (RAW) Fund started the replacement of bus stops equipment in the town of Kozloduy.

Three socially significant projects of Kozloduy Municipality were approved for implementation in 2013 by the Ministry of Economy and Energy.

The first project is for the construction of modular bus stops, where 14 single, 6 double and 4 kiosks will be installed this year, and for 2015, 15 more facilities are planned to be installed in the other settlements of the municipality. The total value of the project is 176 901 levs. The funding of the second construction phase of the handball court with artificial covering in the village of Glozhene is also stipulated – finishing of the court, construction of spectators stands, approaches, sidewalks and a parking area. The completion of the court will take 6 months and will cost 95 714 levs. With the third project, the children facilities in the kindergartens will be renewed, by stipulating it total 9 swings, climbing frames and playground slides for each kindergarten. The total value of the project is 58 770 levs.

In the village of Novi Han, the second phase of the project for a park is funded by the RAW Fund. This year funding is provided also for the village of Gabra, which is close to the RAW permanent repository. There is expected to be a complex playground with artificial covering for handball, volleyball, football, tennis.

Financing through the RAW Fund is performed for a second year after the of the amendments to the Safe Use of Nuclear Energy Act entered into force, where it is written that municipalities and settlements, in the area of which the facilities for radioactive waste management are operational or their construction is approved or permitted, can receive funding for projects and activities for planning and development of the territory.
