The sixth edition of the Honey Celebration took place in Kozloduy on 14th and 15th of February 2014 – a joint initiative of State Enterprise Radioactive Waste and the bee-keepers associations from the region of the riverside town.
During the official opening, the executive director of SERAW – Dilyan Petrov noted that with each passing year, the Celebration enjoys an increasing popularity which is a solid sign that the event has found its place in the social life of the people in the region. In this regard Mr. Petrov emphasized that SERAW will continue to support the initiative and will look for more opportunities to improve it, including by joining efforts with the Municipality of Kozloduy. With greetings, the guests of the Celebration were addressed also by the mayor of Kolzoduy – Rumen Manoev, the chairman of the bee-keepers association in Kozloduy – Tsvetan Yovov and the president of WiN – Bulgaria – Radka Ivanova.
Special guest of the Honey Celebration 2014 was professor Hristo Mermerski who gave a lecture to an audience of around 300 people about the healing properties of the honey and the bee products and gave useful tips on their application.
Twenty producers of honey and bee products as well as craftsmen presented their production during the two days exhibition. More than 1100 people used the opportunity to meet them – students and senior citizens, families, that had decided to dedicate the Saturday to this beneficial visit. Another guest of the Celebration was pronounced – a one-month baby Radostina from the town of Dobrich whose mother Roza Ilieva, a bee-keeper tradition heir, considers devoting to the noble profession. Among the visitors were also and three representatives of the Romanian bee-keepers branch, arrived upon the invitation of Tsvetan Yovov. During their talks with the honey producers – participating in the Celebration, an idea was formed for the next edition to have a work meeting – specialized seminar for exchanging experience between the two countries.
By following the tradition, the Celebration ended with a short ceremony during which the two celebration days were summarized. In their statements all participants noted that the event earns more and more respect with its positive attitude and useful contacts; it becomes a “brand” as per the doyen of the beekeepers in the region – Georgi Osikovski.

Nice well-organised celebration, as it is every year. It gets better from year to year. I would recommend in the future the festival to take place in a bigger hall.

I come to this festival for first time and I like it very much. It is wonderful that there are so many bee-products at one place. I would recommend making it in a bigger hall in order to provide more space for the visitors.
