22.02.2016

“Each passing year, the Celebration day becomes more variegated and marks a positive trend of becoming better and better! I am glad that those of us that hesitated to participate are now here. I thank SERAW for the invitation! I thank for this Festival!” Such was the emotional description of Dilyan Ivanov – a beekeeper with 19 years experience from the village of Harlets in Municipality of Kozloduy. He was among the participants in the Honey Celebration Day 2016, an initiative of State Enterprise Radioactive Waste and the associations of beekeepers in the region of Kozloduy. The eight edition of the exhibition took place on the 19th and 20th February 2016.

The event gathered 22 producers of honey and bee products, wild-berries jam, authors of hand-made items from natural materials, recycled paper, ceramics and art fabrics. Book stand with specialized literature created an additional accent in the two days exhibition.

The Celebration was officially opened by the Executive Director of SERAW – Dilyan Petrov, who expressed wishes for good health and a fruitful year. Among the guests during the opening ceremony were representatives of the higher management of Kozloduy NPP and the Municipality of Kozloduy.

As part of the accompanying programme there was a delicious culinary exhibition Granny’s honey cake – prepared by a local pensioner club – Turlashka mahala. Support for the organization and the promotion of the event was provided by some young people – volunteers from the Centre for Personal Development Baraka as well as the ladies from the Women in Nuclear organization (WiN – Bulgaria).

The Honey Celebration Day 2016 noted a significant increase of interest of the citizens and guests of Kozloduy, and the statistic indicates a record number of visitors – more than 1800 people among  which more than 300 were children.
