Exactly 1935 volumes of fiction, scientific and reference literature have been collected as a result of the campaign New Life for Old Books. The initiative was started by State Enterprise Radioactive Waste (SERAW) at the end of 2015 as a result of the need identified to replenish the books’ funds of the public libraries in the region of Kozloduy. The idea received a strong response not only in the public space of the town; books were also sent by employees from the Enterprise’s Main Office in Sofia.
The Information Centre team of SERAW undertook the commitment to review and list all books donated and mostly to evaluate the specific needs of the libraries so that the books can be distributed in an adequate fashion to reach their new readers. Thus after preliminary consultations, the donated books were distributed to libraries of the villages of Harlets, Butan, Kriva Bara, Erden, as well as the towns of Kozloduy, Mizia and Boychinovci, and complete writings collections of L.N. Tolstoy and I.S. Turgenev from magnificent issues from the 60’s of the past century – today already considered as bibliographical valuables, became part of the fund of the Regional Library Hristo Botev – Vratsa.
